The furnishing style of the architect and interior designer is characterised by soft beige tones and contrasts. Wooden details here and there harmoniously round off the overall effect. The next125 kitchen is an essential stylish feature of this home. Thanks to the clear lines and the on-trend shade Sahara beige, the interior is perfectly coordinated.

With its sleek island, the kitchen appears to be timeless. A harmonious combination of minimalism and architectural elegance creates an aura of exclusivity that fits in wonderfully with the upmarket style of the other furnishings.
Even the interiors ooze sophistication as organisation solutions made from wood and moulded non-woven material mean that drawers are kept neat and tidy and don’t mar the look of the room when open.
The interview
Customised kitchen planning allows demanding requirements to be met. Kitchen owner Lejla explains how the kitchen of the year won her over and what makes it so special in this brief interview:
What was especially important to you
when planning your kitchen?
"For me, it was very important that the fronts and worktops had the same finish. A minimalist, scaled-back look was a must. I found what I was looking for at next125."
Why did you choose Sahara beige
as the colour for your kitchen?
"Muted tones are my favourite. We used to have a black kitchen, but I wanted something lighter for the new kitchen. I fell in love with the colour Sahara beige when I was searching because the shade is both cool and warm and can be combined very well with our furnishings."
What do you love most about your kitchen?
"It's difficult to decide. The high-quality glass fronts of my pull-outs in particular are a real highlight for me every day and are a pleasure to use. In terms of design, it’s the slim worktop and the feel of the SensiQ material. The velvety surface is one that you really must feel under your fingertips at one time or another!"
"And in everyday life, the technical elements make things easier for me. We especially like how our fridge closes automatically thanks to the “N-DRIVE” function."
N-DRIVE mechanism
The N-DRIVE provides electrical support when opening and closing lift-up doors, folding flap doors and climbers. N-DRIVE is a great help, especially when opening larger and heavier doors, for example on refrigerators.
Why did you decide against wall units above your base units?
"I wanted my base units to look more homely and more like a sideboard. By changing the decorative features, I can furnish the kitchen for celebrations and adapt it to the living area."
Do you still have enough storage space?
"We decided on floor-to-ceiling tall units, so we store things like bulky kitchen appliances there. The large kitchen island also provides additional storage space. And we keep our crockery and other kitchen utensils in the drawers."
How do you keep your drawers and cupboards neat and tidy?
"I took a shine to the organisation solutions. When planning the kitchen, I purposefully opted for large drawers in the kitchen island, which I now organise with the Primus drawer insert and Flex-Boxes made from moulded non-woven materials and real wood. I was also looking for functional inserts that help me to organise my drawers that bit more and which make my tasks in the kitchen easier. Every kitchen should have something like my baking paper insert."
"On the whole, I think that these little organisation solutions are not only practical but also look great. At next125 I found a good range of functional inserts that can be perfectly combined."

“A kitchen should absolutely...”
"…be the place that brings people together. My husband and I love cooking and often invite friends and family round. As the centre of the house, the kitchen is simply the most important place in the house for us. For us, every evening begins and ends here."
