By appointing an external lawyer as an ombudsman, Schüller Möbelwerk KG has established a whistleblower system, thereby clearly indicating its commitment to transparency and a responsible corporate culture. The ombudsman acts as a contact for all employees, business partners and other third parties looking to confidentially report a suspected
- criminal offence (e.g. corruption or fraud)
- legal violation punishable by a fine (e.g. breach of competition law)
- breach of EU law or standards that implement EU regulations (e.g. breach of the general data protection regulation or specifications regarding product safety).
Any information provided will be reviewed by the ombudsman and then passed to Schüller Möbelwerk KG without disclosing the identity of the whistleblower. Exceptions will only apply in cases where inaccurate information about a violation is reported wilfully or through gross negligence. It is therefore important that at the time of making a report, whistleblowers assume or must assume that the report is true and do not have any dishonest intentions behind making it. In cases where whistleblowers are simply not sure whether a violation exists, their identity will naturally be kept confidential.
