The architect
Origin and husbandry
Down-to-earthness, a sense of craftsmanship and regional production unite us as a kitchen manufacturer with the architect, as does the courage to tackle new things.
The roots: Deep in the heart of Africa
Born in Burkina Faso in 1965, Diébédo Francis Kéré came to Germany on a scholarship, where he began studying architecture after completing an apprenticeship as a carpenter. Kéré was awarded the prestigious Aga Khan Prize for his first project, a primary school in his home village, which he realised while still a student. He later planned an opera village in Africa for director Christoph Schlingensief, worked for clients all over the world, took up a professorship at the Technical University of Munich in 2017 and later a visiting professorship at Yale. The 58-year-old is currently one of the world's most sought-after building designers of our time.
Preliminary crowning of an extraordinary career – In 2022, Francis Kéré was awarded the Pritzker Prize, the highest international honour for an architect.
Francis Kéré: Creative Maker
Creative Makers are people who design, inspire and use next125. Makers who deal in their own way with attitude, form and material, colour and space, with the meaning of things. Together with them, we develop topics that are relevant and interesting, inspiring and involving for a design-savvy and design-sensitive target group. Authentic stories, individual positions and unconventional perspectives that correspond with the defining and differentiating aspects of the next125 product.
People and their needs take centre stage. Francis Kéré builds houses that are made for the people who live in them. Very close to their wishes and needs.
We have this approach in common. next125 also builds kitchens that are orientated towards the everyday situation, the function of cooking and at the same time incorporate the emotional design of a feel-good place.
Francis Kéré – Wanderer between worlds. The architect, who comes from Burkina Faso and lives in Berlin, is recognised worldwide as a pioneer of sustainable construction with his projects.
